Whakataukī

Here is another Summer Learning Journey post for Day 4 Week 2 Activity 1 year 6-8. For this task I was told to go onto a document and pick a Whakataukī that you liked out of seven others. Then I had to write down the Whakataukī and have a picture of what it is. What I found hard while making this post was  picking a good Whakataukī for my post. Here is my post about a inspirational Whakataukī.

  1. Kia ora Sophie,

Thanks for sharing your whakataukī! What a powerful message. What made you want to choose this one?

Just like trees, people have a lot to offer the world don’t we? It’s not just about who we are, or where we came from. It’s about what we do, and the impact we have on those around us.

I really like the photos you have chosen as well. Do you know what kind of tree that is on the bottom right? I can’t quite tell what fruit it is growing.

Thanks for sharing your whakataukī Sophie, I really liked it :)

  2. Thanks for the fantastic comment, Beren! I pretty sure that is a pear tree but it is kind of hard to see because the leaves and the fruit are both green! When I spotted this whakataukī I really did think it meant that one person is strong by themselves but if we work together we are stronger! Each and every one of us has something different to offer in life and that's what makes us all different and special!

    1. Hi Sophie,

Oh yes I think you are right, that looks like a pear tree to me too.

"one person is strong by themselves but if we work together we are stronger"

What a positive takeaway from this whakataukī! :)
