New South Wales Fires

This is another Summer Learning Journey post for Day 5 Week 2 Activity 1 year 6-8. As you know Australia has been having the most dreadful fires and the worst are in New South Wales. For this task I was told to brainstorm five ideas about how to help the people in NSW that have been through the terrors of the fires. What I found hard while making this post was trying to think up some good ideas. This post was supposed to be in video but I had problems, sorry! Here is my post about How To Help The People Who Were Affected By The NSW Fires.

  1. Kia ora Sophie,

I am sorry your video didn’t work out for you, but I think your blog post is still very cool. I think food, water, and shelter would make a big difference to all the people who have lost their homes. It’s so sad isn’t it? Fortunately, a lot of people across the world have been donating money and firefighters to help put the fires out.

New Zealand has sent 179 firefighters to Australia since October last year. Hopefully they can help make a difference, we will have to stay positive like you suggested.

Donations are a great way to support Australia too, as most Firefighters in New South Wales are unpaid volunteers. Their charity needs money to pay their Firefighters.

Well done on another blog post Sophie :)

  2. Thanks for the nice comment, Beren! Some of the people have probably already been through other fires in AUS over the years and they have to start a new life all over again!
