Time Capsule

What 5 things would you put in a time capsule? One of the activities for writing last week was to create a list of what 5 things I would put in a time capsule and why.

100 Word Book Review

One of the tasks for reading a couple days ago was to write a book review. The review had to contain exactly 100 words and it could be about any book you were reading at home. It also had to include information about the characters, events that happened and your opinion. I didn't have enough words left to write my opinion. I picked a book called Brimstone from the Fire Watcher Chronicles.

Fire Watcher Chronicles

Brimstone

The main character in the novel Brimstone is a 13 year old boy named Christopher Larkham who lives in 1940 London during the devastating Blitz. He likes to scavenge around his hometown, and is an ace at plane spotting. When he finds an unusual glowing ring near the river Thames, weird things start to happen and Christopher finds himself travelling between two great historic timelines: 1666 and 1940. With The Great Fire Of London raging through the city in 1666 and bombs dropping overhead in 1940 he has to take daring risks, save his friends and outrun the hungry flames…

Describing A Picture

One of the writing activities over the last few days was to write a 100 word segment about a picture. We used a site called Pobble 365 to find a picture. I found it pretty hard to find the right words to add to my writing and to get exactly 100 words.

Animal Town

In a flurry of feathers and a clatter of hooves an absurd

monstrosity whizzed past my doorstep. Could it have

been a herd of animals, in a car, driving down the

street? It was. The wheels squeaked and the engine

grunted as the car started to propel itself up a hill.

The reeve of the accelerator drowned out all other

noise and it came to a halt midway. I held my

breath. The squawks and roars coming from

the car got louder as it started rolling down

the hill, gaining speed at an alarming rate.

Heading straight for my house…

What I Do In Lockdown

Oops Jacinda Did It Again! We are back in lockdown and creativeness is key to getting through it. Now that Room 6 has started home learning we are doing lots of work and fun activities each day. One of the writing activities for today was to write an information report about what your have or are doing in lockdown. Here is my writing about my Lockdown Adventures!

Level 4 Activities

Lockdown. That's the last word I wanted to hear when I had swimming,

netball and basketball training during the week and an important netball final!

My heart just dropped when I heard the news and my brain started frantically

thinking about things I could do for the next few days. New Zealand is

currently in Alert Level 4 and my home living is in full swing! With

baking disasters, family bonding time and my brother yelling at his

PS4 24/7, what could go wrong?

My Mum and I have been having lots of fun baking in lockdown.

My specialities would have to be making oat bars and eating them

while Mum’s is butterscotch pudding and the occasional batch of

burnt cookies. We have officially run out of rolled oats which is the

main ingredient in the oat bars so I guess Mum might have to make

a trip to the shop soon because they will not last long. The chocolate

chip cookie disaster has probably sustained a place at the top of the

worst baking disasters in 2021. Mum and I were busy sorting out

calf tags for Dad when Mum realised that she had actually left

some cookies in the oven. They ended up being being brown

coloured and honestly cannot be classified as cookies because

they have just turn into a huge mass of cookie mixture which

is moist and not chewy like the recipe said.

Farm work has also been a priority at the moment too.

Sometimes it’s really cool because I learn things about

cows and how to drive a motor bike and we are all

together but a majority of the time our schedules are

very different. Mum’s one is: Feed calves around

8 am, breakfast, get calves in, lunch, get cows in,

feed calves, dinner. Mine is; Sleep in to 8 am, breakfast, hang around, school work till probably 4, lay on my

bed with the cat till dinner. But I have managed to learn

how to drive a motor bike, learn while feeding calves

and get more confident around cows.

It has also been fun spending time with my Dad.

We normally like to have a very formal talk withthe people on television. Whenever the one-clock

news comes on we listen to what the government

has to say and then we give them ideas of what

they should do but unfortunately they never seem

to listen! Dad and I also give orders to calves and

cows which at the slightest chance might work. If

only they knew how to drink on a feeder or how

not to jump over a fence. WOW, that would

make our life SO much easier!

In my opinion, everyone is saying that there is a Delta Outbreak in

New Zealand, wait, just let me rephrase that… There is Delta

Outbreak in the North Island. No not even a little bit of theword SOUTH is in that sentence so why do we have to go

into lockdown if we have not got Covid. I thoroughly

believe that we should shut of the North Island from

the South Island, so the South Island can go into lower

Alert levels!

In conclusion, I have had fun with both my

Mum and Dad during lockdown, learnt

a lot on the farm and I believe that Jacinda

should take a different approach to the virus.

Even though sometimes there is catastrophes

happening around the house or there is chaos

on the farm I wouldn’t change these experiences

for anything else in the world.
