Have you ever heard of Diwali? It is the largest festival in India! Because it is the time of Diwali this month everyone in our class had to create a way of displaying what Diwali is. It could be a poster, slideshow, document and more.
I was a student at Awahono School in Greymouth and this is where I shared my learning.

Real World Math: Sports, Swimming
A few weeks ago we were completing some epic activities around the reading website Epic. We had to read a online book and then give an account of what it was about and who you would recommend it to. I read Real World Math: Sports, Swimming!
Halloween Costume
What do witches like on their bagels? Scream Cheese! Last week at Awahono School we got into the Halloween spirit and had a costume day on Friday. There were many ghouls, witches and even a pirate! One of the fun activities to do that week was to write a persuasive piece about what the teacher should wear to the costume day. It had to include strong topic paragraphs and a good plan. I did mine on Bob The Builder!
Bob The Builder
Did you know that an estimated 65% of Americans will celebrate Halloween this year? So why not indulge yourself in the spooky fun and wear a unique costume! I thoroughly believe that my Bob the Builder themed costume would be the most suitable for you because of the low cost, how cool it is to participate in Halloween and how easy it is to make.
Firstly, this will be the easiest costume to get because of the cost. The cost of the costume items is surprisingly low with only $35 being spent on jeans, a t-shirt and a mitre 10 inflatable hammer. The rest of the costume will be made by things that we already own around the school. For instance, instead of buying a pricey $10 hi-vis vest we will use your pink one which gives the costume a pinch of originality. The other accessory we will need is a school bike helmet to act as a construction hat and any shoes you want. This is why I firmly believe that you will benefit from wearing this costume because of the cheap price!
Secondly, Halloween has a rich and interesting history. Spanning across 2000 years Halloween has been celebrated by a wide variety of countries around the world. But the starting point was in Ireland. People called The Celts lived in Ireland and participated in a sacred event called the Celtic Festival of Samhain between 750BC and 1200BC. This was when the people would wear costumes and light bonfires to repel ghosts. During the 8th century Pope Gregory the Third allocated November 1 to be All Saints Day. Soon the people started to refer to the day before it as All Hallows Eve or Halloween. So wouldn’t it be a pleasure to celebrate an event that has a robust history!
Lastly, you don’t even need to create anything to make it! All you have to do is whip on your jeans and t-shirt. Put on your vest and shoes. Clamp on your bike helmet and grab your inflatable hammer. Now strike a pose!
In conclusion, the Bob The Builder costume would definitely suit you because of the low cost, how fun it is to celebrate Halloween and how easy it is to make.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
